Before launching large-scale media campaigns, there were already discounts on the occasion of the 2023 vintage car sale. A Carsmile analysis prepared for Business Insider Polska shows that the sale is in full swing.
— The sale of the 2023 model has become a reality, although the car brands have not yet officially announced it. There are two months left until the end of the year, and the discounts on the market are really big and I do not expect them to be greater when we talk about attractively equipped cars – admits Michel Netter, Vice President of Carsmile, a platform where you can buy, rent or rent cars of almost all brands.
Cheaper, but by how much?
According to Carsmile, the discounts currently offered on the market average 12%. In the case of a new mid-range car. This means a price reduction of about PLN 20,000. PLN and the monthly installment is about PLN 430.

In the case of a car that costs PLN 171,000. PLN (weighted average market price according to IBRM Samar at the end of the third quarter of 2023), this discount means a sales price of PLN 150.5 thousand. Zloty. – There are brands that have gone even further in their discount policy, and as a result you can find models on the market discounted by 20 percent, and in extreme cases even by 25 percent. These types of situations occur when the promotional financing cost is added to the dealer discount – admits Michel Neter.
Carsmile analysts have prepared a list of models for which the “Vintage Sale” campaign was conducted. In reality It has already started. They explained the price discount by comparing the net monthly car lease installment (3-5 years) with the installment calculated for the catalog price. The result is shown in the table below:
As you can see, those interested in purchasing luxury cars can count on the biggest discounts. First place went to the Audi Q5, where you can save approximately PLN 800 per month by opting for a 3-year lease. There are other distinctive models, including: Mercedes GLB, Volvo XC60 or Audi A4. However, it is worth noting that the opportunity can also be “caught” by potential clients with much smaller wallets. Promotions are also becoming more visible in the mass segment.
The Ford Kuga took second place in the ranking, with which you can save up to PLN 500 net per month.. Other cars from the large segment eligible for the “2023 sale year” are, according to Carsmile: the Opel Mokka, Opel Astra, Peugeot 308 and 208 and Fiat 500.
— The list of cars currently offered at significant discounts also includes vehicles from the price category between PLN 100,000 and PLN 150,000. PLN, and in the case of the Fiat 500 even less than this limit. In the mass segment, we also see a struggle for customers with high discounts – confirms Sylvester Lagowski, Head of Purchasing at Carsmile.

Back to normal?
As can be seen from the cuts, the auto industry is returning to normal after several years of shocks related first to the pandemic and then to the chip shortage, which led to many months of delays in the deliveries of new cars. The lack of supply in the market has caused list prices to increase rapidly. Now this is changing. However, there is a problem on the demand side, which is why many brands started sales earlier this year. They want to test how the market will react.
The market has recovered. According to the latest IBRM SAMAR data, 24.6 lakh were registered in the first 20 days of October. Passenger cars, by up to 33%. More than a year ago. In the case of delivery vehicles, the increase was 15%. Even assuming that this data is largely the result of purchases from previous months, it demonstrates that fulfilling orders is less of an issue than it was a year ago.
It’s worth the rush
However, this also makes it worth rushing into making a decision. Michał Knitter emphasizes that currently customers do not have to accept “leftovers”, that is, vehicles that do not contain many useful elements for the equipment. At least at the current stage of the upgrade.
– There is no need to give up an item of equipment of interest to the buyer, for example an automatic transmission, to get a discount on the price – emphasizes the Vice President of Carsmile. However, he points out that there are more and more people looking for a car. -There is an increasing interest in purchasing a new car. Customers are attracted to discounts. The end of the year is also the period in Poland that traditionally sees a recovery in demand from entrepreneurs who “incur costs” to reduce the amount of annual income tax or deduct VAT – points out Michal Neter.
This means that the current situation is temporary and the most attractive vehicles will disappear from view. – It is possible that when brands officially announce vintage sales campaigns, it will concern vehicles that are less attractive in terms of equipment or less popular models – sums up the Head of Purchasing at Carsmile.
