Orava House – A Story About Ludwik Młynarczyk is a touching and deeply personal film that paints in warm colours the portrait of the famous and appreciated Orava character.

Ludwik Młynarczyk was not born in Urawa, he came from Tilmanowa. However, today, knowing his achievements and contributions to Orava culture, no one would dare accuse him of not being an Orava native.

As the director admitted while promoting the film, when he went to his first interview with Ludwik Młynarczyk, he had an idea in his head for a film about his interlocutor’s almost uncanny weather forecasting abilities. The first meeting at Mr. Ludwik’s house in Keczore lasted several hours, and when he left, the young director knew that nothing was left of his original cinematic plans. Ludwik Młynarczyk’s character cannot be contained in a few minutes of a cheerful story about the weather.

Dawid Polit met with Ludwik Młynarczyk several times over several months. Several hours of recordings were made, and after editing – a beautiful and touching portrait of a social activist, musician, teacher of many generations of Orava musicians, but above all – a kind and warm man. The hero of the documentary himself did not see the premiere. He died earlier this year.

The premiere of “Orawski Dom” took place on Friday at the Orava Cultural Center in Jabłonka.
