The news broke early Wednesday morning.

“I feel giddy,” replied Patrick Lagasse on 98.5 FM in the morning. “This is probably the biggest assignment of my career as a journalist,” he said.

But when he was offered the job, he said he didn’t say “yes” immediately.

“The bosses opened the door for me very early on […] But a full reflection took time”, he explained, before admitting it was “hard to deny”.

“I am after Paul Arcand […]. This is a magazine model […] He not only informed me, but he made me a better journalist,” Patrick Lagasse said of his predecessor.

After nearly two decades at the helm of 98.5 FM’s morning show, Paul Arcand announced his departure in the summer of 2024 last June.

“I want to tell you straight, because it might get leaked or misrepresented. I told my bosses that I want to end my current contract, which means doing the morning show for two years. But I don’t want to renew the contract, I don’t want to extend my contract,” he announced on air.
