How do you know you don’t have covid? What are the prevailing symptoms now?

More about COVID-19 symptoms and new variants at Gazeta.pl

We already have such a thing that we often wish we knew better than the doctor and made the diagnosis on our own. It is not only a Polish sin. The same is happening in many European countries and in the world, therefore, when the epidemic worsens, restrictions are applied, and covid passports are used not only for travelers, but also in everyday life – at work, restaurants, shops.

We must have common sense above all, but it is not easy to get it. “I definitely don’t have Covid, it’s something else” – say many people who leave home despite obvious symptoms of infection. The problem is that there is no reason to treat your neighbors, the people on the bus, the teacher, co-workers, the seller “something else” …

Normal covid, delta variant, omicron (briefly called NO), colds, flu, RSV infection, bacterial infection – whatever you’re currently up to, don’t give it a left and right. staying at home. No progress. Calmly decide what is wrong with you and what to do next.

Do you dream of angina, enteritis or influenza? Others, too, don’t want to get sick. Of course, in many cases it is better than Covid disease, but there is nothing good in infecting others, especially for sensitive people, even a common cold can be fatal.

Symptoms are variable

On your own, at home, you will not judge your problem. Especially in the first days of infection. The symptoms of Covid are not very different from those we know about other infections caused by viruses that infect the respiratory system. Covid still doesn’t look the same. Different variants and mutations may favor a slightly different course and symptoms. Its frequency, sequence, intensity, and severity in a given age group. For example: during the second wave, symptoms appear from Digestive (vomiting, Diarrhea) in the youngest infected, although none have been present before. Today, however, it is not certain whether the culprit is actually SARS-CoV-2 or another virus. Initially, it was assumed that co-infection (a simultaneous attack by two or more pathogenic microorganisms) was rare and no other culprits were found after the first was discovered.

After providing more comprehensive diagnoses, it was confirmed that GI disease is also possible in covida without co-infection. This is a fairly common presentation in younger people with the delta variant. These were the observations of the CDC (the US agency in the Department of Health and Human Services, responsible for disease surveillance and control in the summer of 2021, when the variant vigorously attacked Americans or British doctors when it appeared in the UK. The phenomenon has also been confirmed by Michael Domaziewskiand a family doctor known online as Dr.Michał. In fact, his younger patients, who were subsequently confirmed to have SARS-CoV-2, often complain of abdominal pain. Rarely gets old. However, they experience more flu-like symptoms than in the spring: muscle aches, headaches, and a runny nose.

In fact, during all waves of the coronavirus, the following common symptoms persisted:

  1. Fever
  2. cough
  3. shortness of breath

The latter, moreover, has lost its significance and the predominance of symptoms has declined, although mainly among vaccinated patients. Unvaccinated, when they get sick, they still choke on power.

The strange occupation of the disorder of the sense of smell and taste

“I don’t have Covid because I haven’t lost my sense of smell and taste” — the source of this irrational argument is hard to pin down. At the beginning of the epidemic, there were practically no disturbances in the sensory functioning of patients. After a few months, they developed rare symptoms, although much was said about them. In fact, for a while, many people complained that they did not feel the smells and tastes, or that they had changed dramatically (patients had a strange taste in Mouth, the smell or taste does not correspond to previous experiences, eg sugar looked sour, etc.). Recently, however, there are fewer such cases. Even back pain and muscle aches in general are more common.

However, this was not the case at all, since a disturbance in the functioning of the senses should be treated as a kind of screening test for infection. Millions of people around the world have been infected, had symptoms of varying severity, and some have lost the battle against COVID-19 without ever experiencing an impaired sense of smell and taste.

In addition to the three predominant symptoms, symptoms of COVID-19 also include:

  • Sore throat and other discomfort in this area (such as scratching)
  • abnormal fatigue
  • headache
  • Qatar
  • covid fingers Another rash
  • Muscle/bone pain
  • ear infection
  • stuffed nose
  • Anorexia
  • Stomach ache
  • Vomiting/diarrhea

This is not the end of the list. Covid affects various organs, sometimes causing damage or failure to function. It does not bypass the circulatory system or the kidneys, for example. Therefore, you need to take into account the typical symptoms of diseases of these organs. Interestingly – it happens that people who accidentally passed the same infection have complications, and those who have pronounced symptoms. So you may not notice the infection itself, and fight off the Covid haze for months (brain fog).

vaccinated and unvaccinated

As for the frequency of occurrence or severity, with the different variants and mutations of COVID-19, symptoms change places on the list. In general, however, the list itself is permanent. These are usually problems the world has already known about with other respiratory infections. However, their multiplicity and severity often do not give a chance for self-treatment and recovery.

Being vaccinated against COVID-19 does not guarantee that we will not get sick. If it does become infected, we may have the same symptoms as unvaccinated people, but their severity will certainly be different. The vast majority of those who are hospitalized and need a respirator, and who eventually die, are people who are not immune. Of course, the risk that an elderly and sick person will not be able to provide adequate protection despite vaccination is greater. However, it is very different than it was a year ago.

An elderly person infected with the virus and vaccinated does not fear the doctor anymore as he used to. His prognosis is good. I had a recently infected 70-year-old patient with multiple medical burdens, but he was fully vaccinated. He was sick with Covid for three days

– Michal Domazevsky, GP Jacob Grabsky, adds:

Hospitals are full of young people. Unfortunately, this is not surprising. Older people are the ones who are best vaccinated, and vaccines just work. It turns out that the decision to vaccinate is more important for predicting age or comorbidities.

So – if you don’t have symptoms yet and you haven’t been vaccinated, make an appointment to get your vaccination as soon as possible.

In the event of a flu-like infection, see a doctor (by phone or online) and decide what to do. It’s important to get tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection – if your symptoms get worse and you know the results, it will be easier for you to get proper professional care. As Wojciech Androsewicz, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, told a few days ago, many deaths in Poland could have been avoided if patients had sought help in advance. They often only do this when symptoms are very severe and it may be too late to save them.

In recent days, more than 25 percent. The tests are positive. This means the epidemic is out of control, no matter what symptoms you might have, we don’t know how many Poles have got sick, and you don’t need to know someone with the virus to get sick.
