Biden meets Putin. Anthony Blinken confirms the possibility of talks

According to Blinken, who is in Stockholm for the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, Biden and Putin should discuss Escalation of tensions on the western border of Ukraine.

“It is likely that the presidents will speak directly to each other in the near future,” Blinken told a news conference in Stockholm.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced on state television that Putin may meet Biden in the coming days.

The rest of the text is below the video.

Ryabkov stressed that the date of the meeting has not yet been set, as it is difficult to find a common date in the calendar of both presidents. But he stressed that “communication is absolutely necessary because we have multiple problems.”

The only area in which our relations improve is in the START system, in which normal business begins. But the presidents need to give us and their teams a boost to move forward on other issues. Ryabkov said the situation in Europe is very worrying.

The only meeting so far between Biden and Putin took place in Geneva in mid-June. Despite the important statements made during the leaders’ meeting in Geneva and the prospect of improving mutual relations, the red lines did not disappear.
