The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced in a press release that Belarus is imposing a ban on the import of a number of agro-food products from selected countries, including Poland, as of January 1, 2022.
The ban, which is expected to apply for a period of six months, will include the following goods: beef; pork; meat and poultry products; Offal, fat and sausage. salted, dried and smoked meat; Meat meal produce milk, dairy, vegetables, fruits, nuts, sweets and salt.
List of exceptions
Excluded from the import ban are products that will be imported before they become effective, goods for single use, baby food, and a number of other “imported” items. There is also a procedure for obtaining quotas for embargoed goods, if they are in demand on the Belarusian market. At the same time, the Belarusian side reserves the right to expand the list of goods to which the import ban applies.
The import ban will apply to goods from EU member states as well as the USA, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, Great Britain, Montenegro and Switzerland.
The list of all prohibited products is included in Appendix 1 of the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of December 6, 2021 No. 700 on the application of special measures to certain types of goods.
