Death of novelist Ann Rice of “Interview with a Vampire”

American author Ann Rice, author of the fantasy and vampire novels, “Interview with a Vampire”, a renewal of the genre, announced her family’s death on Saturday at the age of 80.

His son Christopher Rice wrote on his Facebook page, “At his last moment, I was sitting near his hospital bed watching his achievements and courage.

He said she died of complications from a heart attack.

“Interview with a Vampire” was released in 1976 and renewed the genre of the vampire novel, adapted into a 1994 film by Neil Jordan starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

Anna Rice has written dozens of books, sometimes erotic, sometimes religious in color, in several “vampire” series, and has sold over 150 million copies worldwide.

Another of his works, “Queen of the Damned”, was adapted for cinema in 2002 by Michael Rymer.

“The amount of grief in our family cannot be overstated. As a mother, the support she gave me was unconditional – she taught me to embrace my dreams, to reject compliance, and to challenge the dark voices of fear and suspicion, ”her son wrote.

“As a writer, he taught me to challenge gender boundaries and surrender to my hysterical feelings,” she added.

He will be buried at a private ceremony in New Orleans.

According to his son, a public celebration inviting “friends, readers and fans” to join will take place in the city next year.
