Minimum wage – what is it?

Minimum wage is the lowest possible amount of wages for work permitted by law. It is determined by the state as a rate of performance of obligations to the employer under the employment contract, for a specified period of time.

The obligation to provide the employee working under an employment relationship with the payment of an amount not less than the specified amount is directly derived from the law relating to the minimum wage and does not in any way depend on the employee’s competencies or the capabilities of the employer.

From the new year, along with the minimum wage, other benefits calculated on its basis also increased, including. Night work allowance, downtime payment, and severance pay for mass layoffs.
