The 22-year-old improved the current indoor world record by 0.44, set by Ethiopia’s Samuel Tefera three years ago in Birmingham.
This is the first feat of a European in the 1500m hall in more than 30 years – in 1990 the representative of Great Britain, Peter Elliott, traveled this distance at 3.34.20.
In the race in Lievin, Michał Rozmys finished fifth with a time of 3.38.82, better than the minimum for the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade (18-20 March). Seventh to the finish line was Marcin Lewandowski – 3.44.69. He has already completed the qualification of the National Competition Federation in the Serbian capital.
Only 0.02 to the bottom line of PZLA in HMŚ was missing Angelika Cichocka, who was sometimes fourth in the 800m with a score of 2.01.52, and Natoya Jules of Jamaica won – 1.58.46. This is the best result in the world this year, as well as the country’s record.
Adam Czezot finished sixth in the 800m – 1.48.06. Spain’s Mariano Garcia won – 1.46.29. The minimum PZLA at HMŚ at this distance is 1.46.70. Kszczot recently announced that after the indoor season, he has ended a rich playing career.
Claudia Sears also finished sixth in the 60m hurdles, which finished with a score of 8.19. France’s Leticia Babett won – 8.00. Piotr Lisek took the same spot in the pole vault. The pole overcame the hanging bar at a height of 5.71. The winner was Chris Nielsen from the USA, who gained 20 cm more.
In the men’s 60m competition, American Grant Holloway was unrivaled, winning 7.35. Damien Cheeker was eliminated from the qualifying round.
Italian Olympic champion Lamont Marcel Jacobs won the 60-meter sprint event. The 6.50 time is 0.03 seconds short of his best record.
