Ski jump in Lahti 2022: results and coverage – Friday’s World Cup Individual Competition

On Friday, the first of the three World Cup tournaments scheduled for the weekend was held in Lahti. Due to the difficult weather conditions, the qualification was canceled, but the first singles competition was smooth (although heavy snowfall was a bit annoying).

Coach Michel Doyal has transported five Olympic athletes from Beijing to Finland: Kamil Stoch, Daoud Kobaki, Piotr Schiele, Bowie Weska and Stefan Hola, as well as Kasper Yoruczyk. The 20-year-old recently won the continental cup competition in Brotterode, Germany.

Poles jumped in Lahti

It was Eurozek who presented himself as the first representative of Poland. He made a good jump. He landed at 115 meters and got good marks in style. It lacked an upgrade to the final series. In the end, it ranked 32nd.

The second of the White-Reds was Hula. The Olympian did not boast four times. He was only 102 meters tall and his marks were low. He knew right away that we wouldn’t see him in the final.

The jump also didn’t go out to Wsek at all. 97.5 meters – it was a very bad distance. Coming off the threshold, the Polish young man realized that he would be fine and that he was not fighting at all.

Żya, Stoch and Kubacki in the final

The Polish fans were hoping that our players could finally have better experiences. As it happened. The Kubacki performed much better than its predecessors. The bronze medalist at the Beijing Olympics achieved 120.5 metres. After the first round he was 25 years old. His reaction showed that he was counting on more.

Żya reached the same distance as his teammate. However, conditions were worse than they translated into wind compensation. The third player in the World Championships from the 2017 facility earned a total of 125.3 points. This gave him a high sixth place.

Stoch jumped really well in the drill, but this time it wasn’t for him. The three-time Olympic champion reached 118.5 meters. That’s his folks for the last series (21st place), but he wasn’t happy. After the rehearsal, Stoch only shook his head in disbelief.

Kubacki upgrade, Stoch decline

The final series started with a fanfare. Kubacki got 124.5 meters in worse wind conditions than on the first attempt. In addition, he had 18-point notes. It all translates to an upgrade for our player. He finished the competition in thirteenth place.

Unfortunately, Stoch couldn’t get enough of trying it again. The jumper descended from the zeb at a height of 117 meters. For him, the second series was associated with a drop in the rating to twenty-fourth place.

She was alive until he cried with joy

yła has done a great job. The Vistulan boomed 129.5 meters. After his jump, he shouted with joy and clenched his fist in a gesture of victory. The pole had an impressive 268 points and waited to see what his competitors would do.

As it turned out later, only Austrian Stefan Kraft (by 15.1 points) and Norwegian Halvor Aigner Granrod (by 0.2 points) were ahead. It was the third – bravo! This is his first World Cup podium this season.
