What do we know about the new season of “Black Mirror”?
Details of the upcoming Black Mirror are, of course, kept secret. However, since it was created with “Variety”, the sixth season will have more episodes than its 3-part predecessor from 2019. Brooker and Jones also decided to increase the length of episodes – each part of the new series will be a full-length movie. Creators want each of them to have the impetus that befits film production.
Let us remind you that until recently the future of “Black Mirror” was in doubt. The rights to the series were owned by Endemol Shine Group, with whom Brooker and Jones split in January 2020 to sign an exclusive 5-year contract with Netfliks worth $100 million. This business move did not like the management of Endemol, which no longer wanted to implement “Black Mirror” in cooperation with the streaming platform. However, when the company was bought by Banijay Group, Netfliks was able to reach an agreement with the new owners.
black mirror phenomenon
“Black Mirror”, made since 2011, is an anthology that refers to the collective anxiety we feel about the modern world. Each episode tells a different, expressive and suspenseful story about modern technoparanoia. In passing, technology has changed all aspects of our lives. In every home, on every desk and on every hand, you can see a plasma screen, monitor or smartphone – a darkened mirror that reflects the everyday life of the 21st century.
The cast of the series includes, among others, Bryce Dallas Howard, Miley Cyrus, Jesse Plemons, Daniel Kaluuya, Domhnall Gleeson, Jon Hamm, Hayley Atwell, Sarah Snook and Letitia Wright.
The first two seasons of “Black Mirror” were created for British TV channel 4. Then the series moved to Netflix, thanks to which it quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. “San Junipero” and “USS Callister” won Emmy Awards for Best TV Movie.
