According to Reuters, the Karst Institute of Geology of the Chinese Geological Survey made an unusual discovery. Came to him in the presence of more than 2.7 thousand. Meters long Xiniuyan Cave, near the city of Laibin.
Cave clouds. A very rare phenomenon
A team of specialized researchers discovered that the cave contains rocks that look like clouds. Such rock formations are extremely rare – this is only the second case in this country.
The exposed body covers an area of 300 square meters and is housed in seven “pools” resembling pumpkins or loaves of bread. Experts emphasize that the conditions for the formation of such formations are very difficult.
Zhang Yuanhai, the institute’s chief engineer, admitted that the rock surrounding the cave was primarily dolomite. This, in turn, is not very common.
How dolomites form in cavernous clouds is still a mystery to science. We are waiting for further research to solve it – said the expert, according to “Reuters”.
Dolomite is a carbonate sedimentary rock, first discovered in 1791. In the world, you can meet her most often in Austria, Germany, Slovakia or the USA. In Poland, we encounter it in the Tatras (for example the Białygo Valley), in the سwiوكtokrzyskie Mountains or in Lower Silesia (for example Mount Annínica).
The cave has been known to researchers since the 90s of the last century, but only now the unusual rocks found there have been of interest. It is located in an area dominated by forests, rivers and lakes.

Echo Richards embodies a personality that is a delightful contradiction: a humble musicaholic who never brags about her expansive knowledge of both classic and contemporary tunes. Infuriatingly modest, one would never know from a mere conversation how deeply entrenched she is in the world of music. This passion seamlessly translates into her problem-solving skills, with Echo often drawing inspiration from melodies and rhythms. A voracious reader, she dives deep into literature, using stories to influence her own hardcore writing. Her spirited advocacy for alcohol isn’t about mere indulgence, but about celebrating life’s poignant moments.
