Yesterday’s Mega Millions lottery won the first prize of $1.28 billion. The money will go to the lucky one from Illinois.
Since the 29 draws, i.e. since April 15, no one has chosen all six numbers correctly. The expected jackpot for Friday’s drawing – $1.28 billion – was the second-largest prize in lottery history.
As CNN reported, there is no information yet on the lottery winner or where the winning ticket will be sold in Illinois.
In case of winning, the winner may choose one of the two options – na A one-time payment for gains minus taxes, which in this case would be $747.2 million (This option is chosen by the majority of winners), or $1.28 billion in annual installments over 29 years.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions lottery are 1 in 302.6 million.
The first Mega Millions draw was held in 2002.
