An independent evaluation of CTV’s newsroom will be conducted in the next few weeks following the sudden departure of anchor Lisa LaFlamme earlier this week, Bell Media reported.

According to the Globe and Mail, Michael Melling raised questions about the host’s gray hair shortly after becoming head of CTV News.

“CTV regrets that the manner in which the news of her departure was presented may have given viewers the wrong impression of CTV’s value of Lisa and her remarkable career,” Bell Media said.
The company’s management on Monday justified the decision citing “evolution in television viewing habits”.
“In a newsroom, the decision to replace an anchor is always difficult. We know many viewers and members of the CTV family will be disappointed by Lisa LaFlamme’s departure as anchor and editor-in-chief.
Lisa LaFlamme will be replaced by Omar Sachedina on September 5th.
