A monarchy expert believes Meghan Markle may not have appeared at Balmoral Castle for fear of receiving an icy reception from the royal family.

Early reports said the Duchess of Sussex would be in Scotland with her husband Harry, but multiple media outlets later confirmed she would not be making the trip.
“He may not have been very warmly received, to be perfectly honest,” BBC state correspondent Nicholas Witzel said on Thursday.
Meghan and Harry were due to attend the Wellchild Awards in London on Thursday evening, but naturally canceled their appearance.

Although the exact reason for Meghan’s absence has not been given, it would have been difficult for her to rejoin the royal family under difficult circumstances.
Meghan and Harry are so close to the Queen that the couple named their daughter Lilybet.
Harry told The Today Show in April that he and his grandmother “had a really great relationship. We talk about things that she can’t talk to anyone about.”
In an interview published on August 29, Meghan insisted that she is working to forgive the royal family for everything that happened with Harry while working in the royal company.
“I think forgiveness is very important. It takes a lot of energy not to forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I tried really hard,” he said.
The royal family is shocked by this interview which tarnished their reputation.

Kate Middleton, the future Queen and William’s wife, also did not visit Balmoral Castle. She stayed in Windsor to care for her three children, who had arrived for their first day of school on Thursday.
Harry and Meghan paid tribute to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
The couple changed the home page of their website, the Archiwell Foundation, to display a black screen with a simple message in white letters: “In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022”.
