Dark clouds have been hovering over The Witcher 3’s next-gen update since February this year. Until then, Saber Interactive was in charge of the port, or rather, its Russian subsidiary. The Poles no longer wanted to cooperate with the people living in the country that attacked Ukraine, so they took matters into their own hands.
The details of CD Projekt RED and Saber Interactive’s parting are unknown, but since the team needed up to 10 months to prepare to perfect Geralt’s adventure, perhaps it wasn’t just the final touches, but I’d rather prepare almost the entire port from scratch.
Regardless, the original developers have kept their promise and will deliver The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S and PC by the end of 2022. This will be the perfect time to rejuvenate yourself with this unusual adventure, especially for people who last came into contact with it at least two or three years ago.
The quality of The Witcher 3 is unsurpassed
Due to the release date, owners of powerful PCs and consoles PS5 / XSX | S, who would like to return to the world inspired by the works of Andrzej Sapkowski, can say with confidence that this year’s holidays – during a break from preparations, family meetings and pulling out gifts from under the Christmas tree – they will spend with Geralt. I also belong to this group, because I have been putting off playing The Witcher again – exactly the third – since the beginning of this calendar year.
The time to take control of the Blaviken Butcher was definitely last summer, when high-budget games were a rarity. And, in fact, there were none at all, because a position like Stray could not be counted among the great hits. I didn’t take advantage of this opportunity, because this next-gen version of The Witcher 3 was still following me. I was curious what CD Projekt RED would get out of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Who knows, maybe even the graphic level known from the beta versions of The Witcher will be reached.3 from, say, E3 2013.
What is not to say, if the quality of the visual setup can be achieved, as in the video above, I will be satisfied. Combined with 4K resolution and 60fps (In my opinion, the minimum port of PS5 / XSX | S games from the previous generation of consoles) We should get a world teeming with life and also providing stunning landscapes. Already today, the PC version (and even without mods!) Allows you to enjoy stunning scenery, so I hope The Witcher 3 on consoles will also show its claw.
The next generation of The Witcher 3, the remake, and then the new The Witcher – there is something to look forward to!
Despite the fact that the Polish developers did not handle well the console version of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4 and Xbox One, the versions created for PS5 and Xbox Series X delivered the expected quality. Crossing a mercenary or a mercenary named V on current-gen hardware is so much fun I don’t even think of a scenario where the updated story about Geralt would have major problems with the fluidity or quality of the aforementioned graphics. Said version was built longer than necessary to handle such errors.
What about the next generation of The Witcher? It remains to watch the remake of the first part of the series, which seems to take precedence over the release of a new part, starting a new Witcher trilogy. Perhaps CD Projekt RED aims for “one” update for 2024, when in 2025 we should be introduced to the Witcher codenamed Polaris. For now, however, it remains to wait for next week, when we’ll find out exactly what clothes Geralt of Rivia wears to a special event.
