A Sight & Sound poll in which critics and filmmakers vote on the winners Best movies ever, is undoubtedly the most famous arrangement of this kind in the entire world from the 10th Muse. Let’s remember that it only happens once every 10 years, and that its first edition was held in 1952. Every decade since then, film critics from all over the world have submitted their lists to determine the winner; 30 years ago, the directors’ vote was also organized for the first time.
In 2022, as many as 1,639 people took part in the critics’ poll—nearly twice as many as 10 years ago. All of them anticipating the top 10 best movies in history. So did the 480 directors whose votes helped create a ranking of creators.
The critics’ list did not lack surprises – the winner was the production, which a decade ago took only 36th place. Years later, it works like Lawrence of ArabiaAnd the Chinatown if wild bunch.
