“Mom, I missed the flight!”: Injuries still significant for Joe Pesci

The actor who played Harry – “Mom, I’ve missed the plane!” – Returned to the many injuries he suffered during the filming of the films, and especially when it was necessary to set him on fire.

That’s what Joe Pesci said in a recent interview with the American magazine “People” on the 30th anniversary of the second film in the franchise.

Admitting that this kind of comedy is “more physical, so it takes a little bit,” the actor, who plays one half of Thieves alongside Daniel Stern, specifically remembers the moment his head caught fire during a trap set by Kevin. By Macaulay Culkin.

“In addition to the usual bumps, bruises and pain associated with this type of physical comedy, I suffered severe burns on the top of my head during the scene where Harry’s hat caught fire,” he recalled.

Joe Pesci suffered this fate not once, but twice during the 1992 film when his character caught fire on his head while chasing young Kevin in a kitchen under renovation.

“[J’avais] Opportunity to get professional stuntmen for heavy stunts”, he underlined.

The actor still has fond memories of filming this franchise.

“It’s a nice change of pace to do this particular kind of slapstick comedy,” he told the outlet.
