Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku has launched Royal Caribbean’s first LNG-powered cruise ship.
The dock where the giant cruise ship has been under construction for the past eight months has filled with water. Over the weekend, the ship will be moved to another dock where her fully assembled hull will receive her final equipment. The shipyard celebrated the launch with a solemn cannon shot.
Icon of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world, With a length of 365 m, it accommodated 7.6 thousand people. Guests are in 2,805 cabins.
It will have a waterfall, the largest water park ever built on a cruise ship, and seven swimming pools. Royal Caribbean Reimagine the interior of the ship.
“Icon of the Seas is a state-of-the-art vessel that challenges the know-how of our shipyard and takes the entire Finnish shipbuilding industry to a new level. We are proud to be responsible for the design and construction of the Icon of the Seas in collaboration with The customer and all our partner companies are also an important step towards the sustainable development of the shipbuilding industry.
Icon of the Seas will be delivered to the customer at the end of 2023 and will make her maiden voyage in January 2024. The vessel will sail from Miami all year round in the eastern and western Caribbean.
