Bypassing the Warsaw Cluster in RPBDK 2030

This is very good news for the residents of Warsaw and the surrounding area. Currently, the construction of the bypass road is nearing completion, and it is already clear that this investment will not be able to relieve traffic in the capital and its suburbs. All because of the transit traffic, which will be captured by the so-called bypass of the Warsaw agglomeration, that is, the ring around the city, farther from the center than the current one. The road was planned for a long time, but it always had financial problems – there was simply a lack of funds for its construction.

This is to change the state program for the construction of National Roads 2030, in which the construction of the OAW has already been included as a priority investment, all thanks to the project to build the Central Communications Port that the current government has vigorously promoted (thanks to which the A2 motorway will also be expanded from Warsaw to Stryków)).

Bypassing the Warsaw bloc – how will it go?

Bypassing the Warsaw agglomeration is a huge investment with a total length of more than 260 km. Initially, as many as four scenarios for the new road route were proposed, but eventually it was decided to run it in another layout, along the S50 in the north and the A50 in the south. The estimated construction cost is about 35 billion PLN. The completion date is not yet known, but according to the government’s plan, the investments listed there are scheduled to be operational by 2033 at the latest.

Bypassing the Warsaw Bloc

The most important investments of the government program for the construction of national roads 2030:

  • The western bypass of Szczecin,
  • motorway S11 from central Pomerania to Upper Silesia,
  • Route S10 from Szczecin to Warsaw,
  • The Warsaw agglomeration known as Warsaw’s Second Ring Road has bypassed, thanks to which traffic will be restricted on the existing First Ring Road, which is not yet completed, especially thanks to the removal of transit traffic, including heavy transport,
  • Reconstruction of the A2 Warsaw-ódź motorway and adding additional traffic lanes,
  • A4 Krzyżowa-Wrocław and Wrocław-Tarnów Expressway.

The government has allocated about PLN 292 billion for the construction of the planned investments. This is record money that has been allocated so far for road construction in the history of Poland.
