A Microsoft employee accidentally posted an image on Twitter, which revealed that Notepad built into Windows 11 will receive a bookmark function.
Sorry, I posted a tweet
A senior product manager at Microsoft accidentally tweeted a screenshot of a special edition of Notepad, showing that there will be a bookmarking feature in the text editor. The tweet was deleted after a few minutes, but Windows fans quickly picked up on the topic. The screenshot includes an internal company warning: “trusted Don’t discuss features or take screenshots” (suggesting that this guy is one of those people who wants more than anything in life to sit comfortably in a sun lounger and watch the world around him burn. I respect that position).
The screenshot was deleted from Twitter a few minutes later
What could this mean?
The warning indicates that the tabs feature is under internal testing at the company and may reach Windows 11 Insiders in the first half of 2023. If Microsoft continues with this trend, it will be the first built-in app to get a tabbed interface after adding it to File Explorer. Originally, this function (named groups) was tested in all Windows 10 apps, but the company pulled out and canceled the project.
