Ghosts of Inisherin movie review

What would you do if your best friend suddenly stopped talking to you one day and decided that he didn’t like you anymore? How do you behave? What feelings will accompany you? Faced with such a problem one day, Padraic (Colin Farrell). For reasons unknown to him at first, his friend Colm (Brendan Gleason) realizes that their friendship has run out. Not only does she not want to see him anymore, she doesn’t even want to have any more conversations with him. He doesn’t want to see it. It would be better if Padric had forgotten about his existence and left him alone. He took care of his little donkey and cows and left him alone. But a man cannot agree to his friend’s request until he finds out what he has done. What did he offend? Living in ignorance drives him crazy.

A seemingly simple story written and directed by Martin McDonagh Capture first, explore later Or won two Oscars Three billboards outside Ebbing, MissouriTell us about friendship. More specifically, about their breakup. A man tells another man to his face that he doesn’t want to get to know him anymore. It would probably be easier in other circumstances, but the action takes place in 1923 on a small Irish island. A place where there is one city, one pub, and one church. Avoiding someone completely is very difficult. Which means that the wounds after parting are not able to heal, because the sight of a former colleague, lover or lover opens them all the time. The only way out of this situation is to leave the island, which only a few decide. And not out of attachment to your home or land, but out of fear of starting over.

The script written by McDonagh goes straight to the viewer’s heart. None of us would like to be in Padrick’s shoes, but on the other hand, Colm’s motive is totally understandable to us. He is at the crossroads of his existential path and has to give up something. He does what he thinks is best and most convenient for him. He does not think of others. They focus on themselves. The film shows that for the first time in his life he decided to act selfishly. However, at least I understand why he behaves this way. He fears that his time in this earthly valley will be much shorter than the time behind him. And this scares him. He wants to fight so as not to lose him. To achieve this, he must make a painful decision. One person abandons the other for the sake of further development. And Colm is not the only one facing this dilemma. Sister Padrika felt for years that this island was too small for her, and that she could achieve more elsewhere. She can do more. The only thing keeping her on this sad island is her brother and the fear of moving to a place where she doesn’t know anyone. Where perhaps her word doesn’t mean as much as it does here. And that’s what it’s all about Inisherin spirits About the fear of the unknown. It doesn’t matter if it’s death, loneliness, or starting from scratch. According to the director, people are largely driven by fear. In order to evolve, we must overcome or tame them. Of course, we may end up making a mistake in the end. However, without risk, there is no opportunity for growth.

Inisherin spirits It is a wonderful performance by two gentlemen – Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. This isn’t the first time they’ve met each other on screen, but I don’t think they’ve been given such well-written and well-developed characters to play. Both of them poured so much emotion into them that the viewer feels it on the screen every minute. Even when they both don’t say anything to each other, they just look at us, we feel what they want to say to each other. McDonagh’s new film relies on short dialogues and silences, but they are so eloquent that the viewer sits down and absorbs them with their entire being. After leaving the cinema, we constantly think about the problem that we see on the screen, and translate it into our own life. We wonder how we would have acted in place of both heroes.

It seems to me that the role of Padrick is one of the best in Colin Farrell’s career. As for Brendan Gleeson, I have no such conviction, because he is an actor who has maintained a high standard for years. For me, he is the guarantor of the highest quality of creations.

The second plan of this story, where it prevails, also looks fantastic Kerry Condon as Padrick’s sister. Soon, the viewer takes her side. He feels the pain that accompanies this cultured woman surrounded by simple men who are immersed in the monotony of their lives and want nothing more from her. It also makes a great outfit Barry Keoghan. Dominic, who plays him, feels rejected by society like the rest of the characters, but for completely different reasons.

In addition, there is a wonderful cinematography by Ben Davis and music by Carter Burwell, which heightens the emotions and accompanies us throughout the film. The Irish island looks beautiful, although it is not a place where you would want to spend the rest of your life. A picturesque place with green hills surrounded by rocks and water that you can watch for hours but not for the rest of your life.

Inisherin spirits is a wonderfully written, brilliantly directed, and brilliantly scored film about a seemingly trivial problem that affects us all to some degree. He’s experienced all the scenes of rejection and knows it’s a huge mental pain that takes a long time to work through. And some never get up from it and live with it, pretending they’re not there. Martin McDonagh He showed it perfectly in his movie.
