PGNiG lowers the price of gas for small and medium businesses

PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny lowers gas prices for small and medium businesses. The reduction will be PLN 150 per MWh, more than 19 percent. the company said on Wednesday. Wednesday before noon at 5.30pm Dutch TTF center natural gas in February contracts rose 2.62%, to €61.64 per MWh.

PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny has lowered gas prices for small and medium-sized businesses since January 18, which are paid on the basis of the “Gas for Business” list price, the company announced on Wednesday.

As indicated in the announcement, the new price will be offered to customers paid on the basis of “Gaz dla Biznesu” price list No. 9 using the automatic reduction mechanism used last year and will be valid until March 31, 2023. “The use of automatic reduction does not require the customer to take any action and will be applied Automatically on invoices” – emphasized.

“PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny monitors the market situation and fluctuations in gas prices on European stock exchanges on a continuous basis. The security of gas supplies to our customers is a priority,” Henryk Mucha, Head of PGNiG OD, said in the press release.

He added, “However, gaseous fuels are contracted for the long term, so a short-term decline in prices on the stock exchange does not always translate into a decrease in prices for business customers in the short term and to the same extent.”

Wednesday before noon at 5.30pm Dutch TTF center natural gas in February contracts rose 2.62%, to €61.64 per MWh. Its price also increased in contracts for March – by 1.99%, to 61.75 euros per megawatt-hour, and for April – by 1.98%, to 62.59 euros per megawatt-hour.

On the day of the Russian attack on Ukraine, February 24, 2022, gas prices in the TTF exceeded €128 per MWh. At its peak, in August 2022, gas prices reached €350 per MWh.
