Scientists re-examine the properties of the eccentric HD 76920b | planetary system Urania

Scientists have re-examined the properties of the eccentric HD 76920b planetary system through a detailed seismic analysis of its parent star, HD 76920.

I dropped out published The Astrophysical Journal March 2, 2023.

HD 76920 mAh orbital eccentricity 0.856 (comparable to eccentric bodies Solar Systemsinner 2p / inke and an asteroid 3200 Phaethon), making it one of the more eccentric planets known to orbit evolving stars.

HD 76920’s solar-like oscillations were first detected using five segments light curve with Tess telescopeWhich includes approximately 140 days of data. Using stellar modeling by five individual international teams, scientists have determined improved measurements of the star’s mass, radius, and age, and updated the quasi-major planet’s axis and mass.

With updated characteristics of the planetary system, they have confirmed that the planet is now far enough from the star to experience minor tidal breakup until it is swallowed up by the interstellar envelope. They predicted this event to occur in about 100 million years, depending on the stellar model used.

Asterose science It is famous for its ability to describe basic stellar parameters (such as mass, radius, and density) to a high level introductionwhich is a major determinant of planetary properties.

This seismological analytical work highlights the potential of stellar oscillations in the characterization of systems outer planets Through the synergy between exoplanet research and astrology.
