The British heir to the throne began laying a solemn wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw. The flowers were laid at the same spot by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip of Edinburgh during their state visit to Poland in 1996.
During the ceremony, Prince William learned about the history of the grave. He learned that, among other things, the eternal candle, which stands next to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, was lit again after World War II. He also heard the story of the urns placed next to the grave, where there is soil from the battlefields where Polish soldiers fought.
After making an entry in the guest book, Prince William went to the presidential palace, where he met President Andrzej Duda. As reported by the Presidential Office after the meeting, The topic of the conversation was humanitarian assistance to the fighting Ukraine. “The Prince of Wales thanked the Poles for their generosity and hospitality,” the president’s advisor wrote on Twitter.
And the heir to the British throne ended his second day of his visit to Warsaw with a visit to Hala Koszyki, where he met refugees from Ukraine who settled in Warsaw and found work in the Polish capital. Also present at the meeting were members of Polish aid organizations and Warsaw residents who welcomed refugees from Ukraine into their homes
