Does James Gunn wish Marvel well?
I really want Marvel to continue making good moviessays Gann. Honestly, the better the Marvel movies, the better DC will do – and vice versa. When people see bad movies, they don’t want to spend more money. That’s why we want more good movies.
The director noted, however, that the so-called “Blip” (meaning the mass disappearance of people at the hands of Thanos) made the studio’s work extremely difficult: We have a universe-wide event. In fact, everyone would go crazy about something like that. It is difficult to write stories set in these circumstances. So it was a little easier with the Guardians, because they’re on the edge of everything.
And does Gunn think we’re really dealing with superhero movie fatigue? According to the creator, such a phenomenon exists, but in his opinion it has nothing to do with superheroes: It’s rather a result of the stories we tell and the fact that we sometimes miss the heart of the story, which is the characters. We love Superman. We love Batman. We love Iron Man. They are great heroes in our hearts. But if they’re surrounded by a bunch of shit on screen, we quickly get bored. I’m tired of blockbuster movies that don’t have an emotional story.
‘Superman: Legacy’ is very different from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
Gunn also talked a bit about the upcoming “Superman: Legacy” movie, which he’ll be directing and writing. Is the movie similar to his previous achievements?
I learned a lot from making the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. But mine Superman will not be kept in a similar key. Honestly, it would be completely differentExit detection.
