The turn of 2020 and 2021, when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X appeared on the market, was marked by the release of the start of production for the new generation of consoles and the preparation of developers of original versions of games that will work best on the latest Sony and Microsoft equipment.
Despite the fact that the start of the ninth generation of consoles was better than the previous one, a significant part of those interested closely watched the re-release of hits. This is even confirmed by the winter premiere of Polish company CD Projekt – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S has been on almost every gamer’s lips, yet the title has less than 8 springs on its neck.
At the same time, it perfectly shows the state of our industry. The creators are afraid to create new brands, go against the grain and not use well-known schemes, because such a solution forces the publisher to put a lot of money on the table, and there is absolutely no certainty that the game will be a success from a financial point of view.
Where did Red Dead Redemption 2 go in the re-release maze?
Thus, many publishers are asking the developers under their responsibility to make a remake of the hits from the previous generation of consoles. Even if it were to be made available at no additional charge, there will always be those who have not yet connected to a specific PS4 or Xbox One production and will be happy to do so when it receives an update that allows the game to be played at 60fps and in 4K on PS5 or Xbox Series X. .
Seeing many games that have followed the path mentioned in the above paragraph, I don’t quite understand the behavior of Rockstar Games, which has the amazing Red Dead Redemption 2 collection in its portfolio. In the audience’s opinion, the best game over the past 10 years or so still runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X at 30fps, which constantly discourages me – and I think many potential customers – from returning to Arthur Morgan’s boots The story – poignant and full of twists – mentions the Van der Linde gang.
I dare say Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently the biggest missing piece of the ninth generation of consoles. Take-Two has already made itself known, or rather its greed, by releasing Grand Theft Auto V back on store shelves, and is almost indifferent to the series set in the Wild West.
Arthur Morgan deserves a standing ovation on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
Deep down, I hope that Rockstar Games will prepare a surprise for us related to Red Dead Redemption 2. It probably won’t be a regular patch that allows the game to run smoothly better, because if it was, it would have been available to the public a long time ago. At one time there were rumors that Arthur Morgan’s adventure was getting a remake, and the first part of the franchise, where we control John Marston and continue the story we learned in the “second RDR”, will be a remake.
This bundle would be a really great option – I think anyone who is a fan of Red Dead Redemption, and at the same time had no connection to the first Red Dead Redemption, would throw themselves at it. And let’s face it – there are definitely a lot of such people, because the popularity of the series only increased after the premiere of the story centering on Arthur Morgan.
It’s been less than 2.5 years since the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and Rockstar Games has had development kits from Sony and Microsoft for much longer, so working on a remaster, a remake, and maybe even a re-release of the two could take up to 4 years. However, in my opinion, it took too long and the rumors (regarding the project’s cancellation due to an increased focus on GTA 6) that appeared as soon as those reporting on upcoming updates were true, eventually there would be no Red Dead Redemption 2 we’re able to play. at 60 frames per second on current generation consoles. It would be very unfortunate…
