The 13th pension has been settled, and some of the elderly people already have money in their accounts. Now it’s time to retire the fourteenth. The government has officially confirmed that the fourteenth pension will be paid in 2023. We checked how much will go to the accounts of the elderly with the “fourteen”. The thirteenth and fourteenth pension is an important financial support for the elderly. The fourteenth pension – unlike the thirteenth – is not paid automatically.
The 14th pension is available to active pensioners or retirees if they do not exceed the specified income threshold of PLN 2,900 in 2023. People who earn more may receive a much smaller amount. The transfer will then be reduced according to the principle “PLN for PLN” – the exact calculations are presented in our photo gallery.
The 14th pension will not be granted to pensioners who have a total monthly allowance exceeding PLN 4188.44.
The government has officially confirmed that the fourteenth pension will be paid in 2023. The deputy head of the Ministry for Family and Social Policy, Stanisław Zwid, has announced that the “fourteenth” will become a permanent benefit.
Retirees will get more money in 2023 than in the previous year. Old age and disability pensions are subject to annual comparison from March 1. Indexing consists of multiplying the amount of the benefit and the basis for its evaluation by the index of the index. It is the average annual price index for consumer goods and services in the previous calendar year, and it increased by at least 20%. A real increase in the average salary in the previous year.
In 2023, the pension index will reach 114.8 percent. The March index is based on the amount and percentage, and the minimum interest increase is a total of PLN 250.
As announced by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, Stanisław Szwid, the payment of the 14th pension should be expected on a similar date as last year – at the turn of August and September (in 2022, the payment of the 14th pension began on August 25).
The fourteenth old-age pension shall be equal to the lowest applicable old-age pension in a given year. As of March 1, 2023, the minimum pension amounted to PLN 1,588.44 gross, i.e. PLN 1,445.48 net. This is also the fourteenth pension amount in 2023. However, not everyone will receive the full benefit. There is a limit of 2.9k. PLN total. Those receiving such a pension will receive the full amount of the lowest benefit. If this limit is exceeded, the “PLN for PLN” principle applies.
