After the 33rd round, Real Madrid may lose the runner-up position in the Spanish League. On Tuesday evening, the royal team lost 2-0 in San Sebastian to Real Sociedad. The hosts have taken another step towards the Champions League.

Real Madrid has a busy schedule ahead. The King’s Cup final, then the Champions League semi-final with Manchester City.

No wonder Carlo Ancelotti in the first leg against Real Sociedad rested the most important players. The royal team missed, among others, Karim Benzema or Vinicius Junior.

Players from San Sebastian have the opportunity to play in the Champions League again after many years. However, they must maintain their lead over Villarreal, who are counting on Real Sociedad to stumble.

After a few tens of seconds, Takefusa Kubo played the ball, and Martin Zubimendi hit the crossbar from close range! Four minutes passed, Alexander Sorloth moved to the right, playing for Silva. Courtois hit a shot from the penalty area.

In turn, in the 24th minute, Militao hit a header from several meters. The players’ appetite subsided in the following minutes. It was quieter in the field. By the end of the first half, not much had happened at the gates.

The hosts entered the second half with a great assist from Eder Militao. The defender fell near the touchline of the penalty area. Wanting to save the situation, he played Courtois, but very inaccurately. The Belgian could not control the ball, and Kubo got it and put it near the goal.

The goal added strength to the San Sebastian players who were looking for another goal. However, the Royals managed to equalize eight minutes later, when Toni Kroos fired powerfully from distance. The goalkeeper managed to clear the ball into a corner.

From the 61st minute, the guests faced another problem. Dani Carvajal had to leave the field for two yellow cards. Real Sociedad was outnumbered and dominated the match. Real Madrid were helpless at times.

He was upset on the bench by Ancelotti, who finally received a yellow card. Minutes passed, and the hosts did not intend to return the ball to their rivals. In the 81st minute, Ander Barnetxea could finish the game, Courtois managed to clear the ball after a free kick and rebound.

The hosts ended the match five minutes from time. Ander Barnetxea took the ball into the penalty area, and shot from a difficult position into the near corner. Courtois was unable to hit the ball

On the other hand, the royal family, facing the King’s Cup final and the semi-final match in the Champions League, may drop in the Spanish League on Wednesday to third place.
