Arsenal announces Joren Timber’s injury. The Dutchman will be out for several months as he tore the cruciate ligaments in his right knee.
Arsenal signed Jøren Timber from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer in a deal worth €40m.
The defender played in the opening match of the new season against Nottingham Forest and suffered a serious injury. It was revealed that he had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
This has been confirmed by the player’s own employer via an official announcement.
“We can confirm that Jurrien Timber has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Our player will undergo surgery in the coming days.
It is not yet known how long it will take for the player to recover. However, he is expected to return to the game in February or March next year at the earliest.
The 22-year-old is a 15-time Netherlands representative, who should have been an important link in terms of Champions League competition. It is likely that faced with his health issues, Mikel Arteta will look for someone else on the market.
Just over two weeks until the transfer window closes.
