Former Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell died on Monday at the age of 56 of acute liver failure.
Bob Rock’s manager, Robert Hayes, confirmed that he died “peacefully and comfortably” at his home in Boise, Idaho. On Sunday, Mr Hayes issued a statement saying Mr Harwell was in hospitality.
On the X Social Network, Smash Mouth paid tribute to Steve Harwell, a “larger than life character”. “Steve will be remembered for his unwavering focus and passionate determination to reach the heights of pop stardom,” the band wrote.
Mr. Harwell was a founding member of Smash Mouth, best known for such hits as the track All star He acted in an animated film Shrek. The song was on the album Astro LoungePublished in 1999. It was one of two albums to be certified platinum on Interscope Records. Push you mangReleased in 1997.
The group, founded in San Jose, California in 1994, however, took off thanks to the song. Walking on the sunIn 1997.
In 2021, Steve Harwell left Smash Mouth. Harwell was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy eight years ago and suffered “severe and persistent medical setbacks, including congestive heart failure and severe Wernicke encephalopathy,” the panel said in a statement.
Before founding Smash Mouth, Mr. Harwell played in the rap group FOS (Freedom of Speech).
