Unity apologizes for the new graphics that angered game developers. The company announces the changes

The anger among game developers was so great after revealing the price increase for using the Unity engine that the company did not wait long and actually apologized for its announcement on September 13.

Unity apologizes to developers for increasing fees for using the popular game development engine. The company announced this as of January 1, 2024 A fee will be charged for each installation of a particular product After selling more than 200,000 copies (you can read more about it here), it seems that Unity will withdraw from this controversial idea.

The text of the unit’s message was as follows:

“We have heard your voices. We apologize for the concern caused by the announcement of the new fees. We are currently speaking with our partners, community members, and customers to adjust the price list. We will share new news with you on this matter in the coming days. Thank you for your honest and critical feedback.”

Several teams producing low-budget products announced last week that after introducing the new price list, they will have to port their games to another engine. Reactions to the move have been extremely critical, and the developers posted it on Twitter. On the other hand, we must remember that the unit is going through a very bad period. The company lost more than 60% of its value in just one year, and was forced to lay off more than 1,600 employees in a short period of time. We’ve written more about this here.
