Netflix is now planning to raise the price of its ad-free service after more than a year without changing its prices, months after a major strike by Hollywood actors and screenwriters ended.
Netflix will likely follow in the footsteps of most of its competitors, who have had to revise their prices upwards over the past year. Wall Street Journal.
The increase will first affect the US and Canada before being extended to other markets around the world.
However, it has not yet been specified how much the new price increase will be or when it will take effect, US media reported.
Most streaming services have increased their prices by nearly 25% in the past year. These increases will encourage consumers to use the cheaper service, but with advertising that is considered more profitable for these sites.
The last price increase on Netflix was before January 2022. The stage is awaiting an official conclusion of the strike in Hollywood, which reached an agreement in principle between the studios and the Screen Actors Guild last week. Writers Guild of America.
