The Americans started firing, but after Christian Pulisic’s goal, the Germans took the initiative. Germany beat the United States 3-1 in a friendly match in which Julian Nagelsmann made his coaching debut.

From the beginning, the hosts had no intention of making things easier for our western neighbours. Christian Pulisic scored very quickly, but the Mexican referee ruled it offside.

Pascal Gross gave the signal for the German team to attack. Albion, linked with Brighton and Hove, roared from a distance. Matt Turner would have been very lucky as the ball stopped at the post.

Both teams tried to shoot from distance. Niklas Fuelkrug, Sergino Dest and Timothy Weah wanted to score goals this way. None of these attempts were serious enough.

Pulisic was a prominent figure. The Milan goalkeeper entered the Mannschaft penalty area and fell to the ground after a collision with Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The striker demanded a penalty kick but failed to take it.

In the 27th minute, Matt Turner blocked Volkrug’s shot, and then the Americans launched a counterattack. Folarin Balogun passed the ball to Pulisic, who had some space in front of the penalty area. The home team’s captain hit a stunning shot from distance. The German goalkeeper did not even move.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team responded 12 minutes later. Turner took possession of the ball from under Leroy Sane, despite Ilkay Gundogan’s perfect positioning. The FC Barcelona midfielder found an empty net.

Gundogan regularly joined the team’s offensive operations. Robert Lewandowski’s teammate Turner was forced to step in immediately after the team change. The goalkeeper also showed his reactions after Volkrug’s shot.

The Germans scored to make it 2-1 in the 58th minute. Robin Goossens created a great point on Volkrug in the penalty area. The sniper freed himself from his opponents and defeated Turner with a sure shot.

After a few tens of seconds, the guests increased their lead. Fuelkrug was able to play with his friend and this time he played the role of assistant. His pass was converted by a sliding shot from Jamal Musiala.

The second half of the friendly match against the USA certainly belonged to the Germans. Julian Nagelsmann can breathe a sigh of relief after a 3-1 win on his managerial debut.

On the same day, Côte d’Ivoire played a test match against Morocco. Sebastien Haller gave the Ivorians the lead. Nine minutes before the end of normal time, Ayoub El Kaabi secured a 1-1 draw for last year’s World Cup semi-finalists.
