Created by Ko Nagai in 1975, “Goldrock” was reincarnated with the animated series “Goldrock U”. Scheduled for 2024, this collaboration between Japan and Saudi Arabia brings together big names like director Mitsuo Fukuda and mangaka Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
After a catastrophic attack on his planet by the hostile Vega Empire, Prince Eufor flees to Earth with the giant robot Grendizer. Upon his arrival, Dr. Prusian, director of the Space Research Center, adopted him and named him Octorus. The young alien then leads a normal existence among humans.
One day, while Actrus and the Doctor are studying strange space objects, a sudden attack by the Vega Empire jolts the Prince’s memory. And so begins the “Koldorak” plot.
Casting a brand
A new animated series, “Goldorak U,” is slated for release in 2024. The story will be similar to “Goldorak,” but with an updated format. Director Mitsuo Fukuda (“Gundam”), Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (“Neon Genesis Evangelion”) on character creation, Ichiro Okouchi (“Gundam: The Witch from Mercury”, “Code Geass”) for screenplay and Ko Tanaka ( “One Piece”) for music.

From Japan to Saudi Arabia
Created in 1975 by mangaka Kyoshi Nagai, this reboot of the original series known as Ko Nagai is the result of a collaboration between Japanese production company Kaina and Saudi animation and video game company Manga Productions, which is owned by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Foundation. Salman.
A video game based on the series’ universe, “UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves”, is planned by Manga Productions. It will be available on November 14 on all regular consoles except for the Nintendo Switch, whose version will be released in 2024.
A series was skipped in its country
When it was released in October 1975, “Goldrock” struggled to find a place on Japanese screens. Two years after its broadcast, it was discontinued. On the other hand, after three years in France, Switzerland and Belgium, the giant robot found its place via Club Dorothy. The success of the series spawned derivative products such as records and toys.
The trailer for “Goldorak U” has been released in English, French, Italian and Arabic, but is currently not available in Japanese.
