We had to wait a long time for new information about I Am Legend 2. The film was announced in March last year, but in February this year producer Akiva Goldsman spoke about the sequel, comparing the upcoming title to The Last of Us. After many months of silence, also caused by strikes by screenwriters and actors, Will Smith has revealed new details for the upcoming film. Last Saturday, the actor was a guest at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he talked about the stage work on I Am Legend 2 and confirmed the ending of the original film, which the creators considered essential.

I Am Legend 2 – The movie script is already ready

Smith admitted that he had already received the new version of the script. Last weekend, the actor was scheduled to discuss the story with his on-screen co-star Machelle B. Jordan.

I have a phone interview with Michael B. Jordan tomorrow. We are very close to production, we have just received the script.

The star added that the creators relied on an alternative version of the ending of the first part of the movie I Am Legend, in which Will Smith’s character survived. Therefore, the movie version in which the main character died will not be taken into account in the sequel.

You have to be a real fan of I Am Legend to know this, but in the first version of the movie my character dies, but on the DVD there was an alternate version of the ending where my character survived. We follow the legends of this world from the DVD version. I can’t say anything more than that.

Once the producers approve the script, work will be planned on the film’s sets. Filming for I Am Legend 2 may begin early next year.
