The first round of the fight for the WBO cruiserweight belt was quite even. The start belonged to the Pole, who skillfully “prepared” his opponent with left straights, but then he slowed down noticeably, which was taken advantage of by the reigning champion who went on the attack and delivered some powerful blows, which, however, did not seem to make any significant impression on Masternak.

From the second round, the Master’s advantage was already clear. The experienced 36-year-old boxer boxed like a young man: he impressed with his speed, bombarding the Briton with combinations of blows, seriously hitting his opponent several times with right-handed strikes.

Chris Billam-Smith clearly only took the lead in the sixth round, gouging out Mateusz Masternak’s right eye with a powerful jab. In the seventh round, the subsequent accurate punches of the “gentleman” smashed the Pole’s left eyebrow. However, the Briton did not focus on looking for a knockout, but methodically beat the body of the challenger for the championship belt. After seven rounds, “Master” was ahead on points, but… he didn’t make it until the eighth fight! As our player’s corner kick suggested, the 36-year-old may have suffered a broken rib…

Thus, Bellam-Smith defended the WBO title, which he won in May after defeating Lawrence Okolie.
