Margot Robbie prepares for her roles like a psychopath

Margot Robbie admits that she immersed herself with great intensity in preparing her characters.

Australian actress Cillian Murphy told Variety's Actors Series interview that she tries to prepare as much as possible before shooting a film.

However, during the Covid-19 lockdown, he once took his preparation a bit too far.

“I also prepare like a psychopath. I prepare as much as possible, she started. I started preparing for a role and then Covid happened, so I prepared for this one role for about a year. I finally felt like I was losing my mind.

“My husband (Tom Ackerley) came in and I was making different masks and different things and I was covered in paint and he asked me, 'What are you doing?' 'I've gone too far with this character,' I replied. This has to end. I have to go to the set.”

The Wolf of Wall Street star filmed Amsterdam and Babylon in 2021 post-pandemic. Directed by Damian Chazelle, this latest film was originally slated to shoot in mid-2020.

The 33-year-old actress explained that she covers her scripts with “a billion notes and thoughts” to get a clear mind once on set.

“Because I can come on set and be completely free. But if I hadn't prepared, I would have been too scared, she explained. (If I didn't have an annotated script), I would have all these thoughts on set instead of being free.

Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy interviewed each other this summer following the “Oppenheimer” obsession with the Barbie and Oppenheimer movies.
