David Soule is the actor who played Hutch in the American detective series Starsky and Hutch In the 1970s, Thursday died at the age of 80, his wife Helen Snell announced Friday.
Born in Chicago, USA, David Soul became a British citizen in 2004 and has spent his entire life in the United Kingdom with his British wife.
“David Soule – a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother – died yesterday after a heroic battle for life surrounded by the love of his family,” Helen Snell said in a statement.
“His smile, his laugh and his zest for life will be remembered by the many he touched,” added Helen Snell.
In the series Starsky and HutchAired for 92 weeks in the US between 1975 and May 1979, David Soule paired opposite Paul Michael Glaser in the famous red Ford Gran Torino with a white stripe.
The series followed their adventures in the fictional town of Bay City, where two cops were helped by Hucky the Good Tips, played by their faithful informant Antonio Farkas.
In 2004, a movie was made from the series Starsky and Hutch, which has become a cult. Owen Wilson took over the role played by David Soule 30 years ago, and Ben Stiller took on the role of Paul Michael Glaser.
At the height of his fame, he recorded five albums and pursued a career in music.
