After the document “Lewandowski. Unknown”, another picture of the world of football, produced in collaboration with Papaya Films, will appear on the Amazon Prime Video platform. This time it's about the document “Cuba”, by Jakub Blaszczykowski.
The film will show the private life and sports career of the outstanding football player Wisła Kraków, Borussia Dortmund and the Polish national team.
The filmmakers didn't just talk to Jakub Blaszczykowski and his relatives. Several football icons associated with Cuba also spoke on camera. Including the coaches: yourgen club, Adam Nawalka I Jerzy Brzeczek (He is also Błaszczykowski's uncle) and football players: Robert Lewandowski, Lukas Bishkek, Ilkay Gundoganamats Hummels, Marco Reyos And many more.
“I have stumbled many times in my life and I am not ashamed of that. On the contrary, I hope that my story becomes an inspiration for the younger generation. Because after every failure you can rise up. While working with the film crew the 38-year-old footballer admitted in a press release: “I didn't bite my tongue, I didn't hide behind learned formulas. “I am happy that this authenticity has been transferred to the screen.”
“When I was a kid, I thought about football all the time. Nothing was important. And so it happened that this was my whole life,” Kuba Błaszczykowski says in the trailer.
He adds: “I always stood behind the team. Even at the cost of losing my image. It was not important to me.”
How does documentary director Jean Debus remember working with him?
“Cuba let our team into his life, without censorship, and I am very grateful to him for that. Thanks to this, we were able to capture his strong character, his stubbornness in achieving his goal and his uncompromising character. It is difficult for me to imagine a better hero of the film,” said DeBose. “A man full of emotions, funny, but also not ashamed of his mistakes.”
He added: “Cuba's story is universal and I believe it will not only touch fans who usually care about football.”
To date, the most insightful portrait of Błaszczykowski is his autobiography “Kuba” from 2015, in which the athlete is asked questions by Małgorzata Domagalik. In the pages of this book, among other things: for the first time he spoke in more detail about the tragic death of his mother. Jakub Blaszczykowski was 11 years old at the time.
“Kuba” will be released on February 23 on Amazon Prime Video Polska.
