The commander added that he listened to commanders' reports directly in command centers and held operational meetings during which “possible scenarios of enemy actions were studied, taking into account intelligence results.”
The main priorities remain effective intelligence, coordinated use of all means of artillery fire, protection from electronic warfare and protection of the lives of our soldiers, the Ukrainian commander added.
On Wednesday, January 31, the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that an expected Russian offensive was underway on the border of the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine, and that the Russians would achieve some tactical successes in the region. This will likely not turn into advances of operational importance.
ISW also reported that Russian forces had made tactical advances southeast of Kubyansk along the P07 (Kubyansk-Sawatoy) road near Krokhmalny, and Russian forces were launching more intense attacks west and northwest of Krokhmalny, towards the Oskol River.
