Media: Kelvin Kiptom's family intervenes. A shocking development in the accident

Foreign media published the tragic news a few days ago. On Sunday, February 11, around 11 p.m. local time, a car accident occurred near Captagate, where Award-winning marathon runner Kelvin Kiptum and his Rwandan coach Jervis Hakizimana have died.. According to police officers, a 24-year-old athlete was sitting behind the wheel that evening. However, at some point the young man lost control of the car, ran off the road and crashed into a tree.

Kelvin Kiptum's death shocked the sports community. The 24-year-old Kenyan had achieved great success on the international scene, and just months before his death he became Marathon world record holder. He finished the race at a distance of 42.195 meters with a time of 2:00:35. It was even said that the young Kenyan actor had a real chance of winning the first Olympic medal of his career during the 33rd Summer Olympics in Paris.

At first glance, it looked like an accident in which they died Kelvin Kiptum Gervais Hakizimana was simply the result of a series of unfortunate events. A few days after the tragic death of the young athlete and his coach, new information appeared in foreign media, allowing us to look at this matter from a slightly different perspective. As it turned out, on Wednesday, February 14, local police arrested three men who may be involved in the case. According to the father of the deceased athlete, Samson Cheruiyot, they were supposed to visit his house a few days before the tragic death of the 24-year-old.

“A few days ago, several people came to my house looking for Kevin, but they didn't want to introduce themselves. I asked them to tell me who they were, but they left instead. It was a group of four people,” Sampson Cheruiyot told Citizen TV.

Kelvin Kiptum's father was able to identify the four men who visited his house that day. There was no need to wait for the reaction of the secret services. The police arrested the men and then transferred them to Iten, where their interrogation began. According to the website “isport.blesk.cz”, the detainees had encountered problems with the law in the past.

Furthermore, police officers also confiscated the vehicle in which the detained men were allegedly traveling in order to investigate possible links between the visit from the deceased marathon runner's home and the tragic incident that occurred late in the evening of February 11.
