We've had to wait a long, long time to get the first official Borderlands footage. In mid-June 2021, we saw the first images showing the silhouettes of the characters, and soon work on the production set was completed. However, Lionsgate was not satisfied with the final result, and at the beginning of last year a rework was ordered. Production will begin this summer, and now the first trailer has been released online, showing the film in action. Borderlands fans will get the crazy action scenes and signature humor known from the game series. The film looks interesting and could become the next hit among game-based productions. You can see the trailer below.
Lilith (Cate Blanchett), a notorious outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe's most powerful scoundrel, Atlas (Edgar Ramírez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unlikely team – Roland (Kevin Hart), an elite former mercenary now desperate for redemption; Tina Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), the crazy explosions expert; Craig (Florian Munteanu), Tina's muscular and slow bodyguard; Tanis (Jamie Lee Curtis), a scientist who refuses to follow common sense; and Claptrap (Jack Black), an intelligent robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect a missing girl who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe is in their hands – but they will fight for something more: each other.
The film is directed by Eli Roth, who previously worked on Hostel and Thanksgiving Night. Craig Mazin, co-creator of the Chernobyl series and The Last of Us, is responsible for the script. Cast includes: Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Haley Bennett, Edgar Ramirez, Bobby Lee, Olivier Richters, Janina Gavankar, Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis . Stephen Boyer, Ryan Redmond, and Penn Jillette.
I remember that Borderlands is scheduled to be released on August 9, 2024.
