We wrote about the fact that Michael Schumacher’s story has interested filmmakers in portraying his life for some time. Then, it was said behind the scenes that a real feast was preparing for the Formula 1 fan and the legendary driver. Again, because this is not the first production whose main theme is this sport. The famous “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” isn’t the first idea – a seasonal series already known to have its fourth season in early 2022.
On September 15, the first documentary “Schumacher” appeared on the Netflix platform. The long-awaited film is a description of the fate of the German at the controls of the car.
The producers began their story from childhood and the beginning of Schumacher in Formula 1, that is, his first car journey and the decade that began his brilliant career. On display is his first boss from the Benetton F1 team, Flavio Briatore.
It was already known that people from the closest circle to the star were invited to produce the document. So the show was enriched, among other things, by speeches to the Schumacher family – his wife, children and brothers. Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and Bernie Ecclestone also speak alongside.
Above all, there were stories about the rivalry between world champion and famous Ayrton Senna, and the sad subject of his death.
Of course, the driver’s best years were also emphasized, successes that still qualify him as the best ever.
In the two-hour documentary, a piece is also dedicated to returning to racing after the end of his first career. At this point, we found that this was not a decision the German would repeat.
The producers were not silent about the skating accident, which aroused unusual public interest. After him, Schumacher’s fate became a delicacy for the media and a closely guarded secret by the relatives of the former athlete. Here his wife is shown on screen talking about the reality of living with a “changed” man. At the same time, we learned that Schumacher is still close to the family that lives with him and believes that his condition will improve.
Are F1 viewers and fans satisfied after the movie’s premiere?
Looking at the official profile of Formula 1, you can conclude that it is.
“I absolutely loved it, but my heart was breaking watching the movie,” “I just finished watching this amazing and amazing story,” “What a documentary! So many memories from an amazing era in Formula One history,” the sports fan wrote.
The film is directed by Vanessa Nuker.
