Alien returns to its roots. The first trailer for Alien: Romulus is here

The Alien film series definitely belongs in the science fiction genre. The first film from 1979 is already considered a classic, but in recent years this franchise hasn't had much luck with a good film adaptation. However, the upcoming title may change that.

Alien returns to its roots

21st Century Fox, which owns the rights to the Alien series, announced a new movie in 2019. Initially, the picture was supposed to go straight to streaming, but it looks like the movie will hit theaters first. So it won't be a high budget production, but the first part of this series wasn't a big budget production either, but it made up for it with its atmosphere. Interestingly enough, Alien: Romulus is temporarily sandwiched between the first and second Alien films. The first trailer has just appeared online, and it doesn't reveal much, but it's clear that a sense of uncertainty will prevail here.

Alien returns to its roots, so we can expect a sci-fi horror film, not an action thriller in which a man hunts down the most perfect predator in our galaxy. It's difficult to talk about the plot itself at the moment, as according to previous leaks, it is very similar to the original film. A group of colonists comes to an abandoned research station where evil lurks. You probably already know the rest, there will be huggers and the alien itself, which will chase all the crew members.

It's difficult to judge at this point whether the director will be able to maintain the atmosphere of the first part, but Alien: Romulus promises to be interesting. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long before the premiere, as the film is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide this summer – on August 16, 2024. The lead roles are played by Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), and David Johnson (“The Murder of Agatha Christy Easy”), Archie Renault (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabella Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fern (“Aftersun”), and Aileen Wu. The director is Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”), who also wrote the screenplay. The executive producer is Ridley Scott himself.
