PiS candidate for the European Parliament, Waldemar Buda, was a guest on the “Warzecha Kontra” program on the “Super Express” YouTube channel. One time, the host asked him a question in English. He stressed that it is a test of linguistic competencies and asked about the difference between the European Council and the Council of the European Union. He asked Waldemar Buda to answer in English.
“Not everyone can say that.”
The European Parliament candidate limited himself to one sentence in which he stated that there are issues more important than his English. He continued his statement in Polish. -I know the procedures, they are complicated. I think viewers would like to know such a general class… – he said.
The presenter interrupted him and asked him if he was able to say anything other than this short sentence and if he was able to communicate with politicians from other countries behind the scenes of the European Parliament in order to “look after Polish interests.”
Waldemar Buda said that his English was at the communicative level and he had no problems in conversations in this language. – However, please remember that even if you explain it in Polish and ask the candidates to understand the decision-making procedures of the European Parliament, not everyone will be able to tell that – he defended himself.
The question about the EP candidate’s language proficiency begins 10 minutes and 38 seconds after registration.
The MP handled the next question better, this time asked in Polish. Łukasz Warzecha asked the guest who initiates the normal legislative procedure call. He added: “The European Commission takes the initiative.” -So you know that. I’m glad you answered this question, because I have the impression that many candidates, perhaps also from your lists, will not be able to answer it – praised the presenter.
