The financial history of Lodz Airport is full of challenges. Despite increased passenger numbers and the highest ever revenue from the sale of air services in 2023, the airport is still making losses. Last year’s financial results show that despite everything, the airport recorded a net loss of about PLN 40 million. – Almost 5 million Polish zlotys more than in the previous year.
However, airport managers are not giving up hope. In 2024, they expect not only record revenues; They plan to sell 17 hectares of land belonging to the airport. The increase in the number of flights offered is expected to attract more passengers and contribute to increased profits from airport-related activities.
Owner of majority shares in the airport, The Łódź City Office has been covering the port’s losses for years, which average 30-50 million PLN per year. So the city has been trying for three years to get rid of most of its shares in the airport. International consulting companies, such as the American company KPMG and the British company Ernst & Young, which submitted offers in the tender for an economic, legal and industrial consultant, can help in this process.
If the Łódź Airport management plans succeed, the airport has a chance to overtake other airports in the ranking, such as Bydgoszcz, Lublin or Szczecin.
