The parcel was sent to Norway from Szczecin. According to the description, it was supposed to contain 50 pieces of aquatic plants worth 150 euros (about PLN 640).
Since no one received the package, he returned to the country. The customs officers could not believe their eyes when they opened the package.
The shipment contained tightly sealed plastic bags filled with water. Instead of plants, it contained live leeches.
Leeches are protected in the shipment. They were sent to a rehabilitation center
National Tax Administration staff requested assistance from the district veterinarian. The joint inspection showed that the seized specimens were Hirudo medicis, i.e. medicinal leeches, which are a protected species in Poland and are on the list of endangered animals.
Customs officers described that “the live specimens were transported to the animal rehabilitation center in Szczecin, where they were counted, fed and hibernated (in this state they can survive without food for up to two years).”
Since 1995, the medicinal leech has been a legally protected species in Poland.
Echo Richards embodies a personality that is a delightful contradiction: a humble musicaholic who never brags about her expansive knowledge of both classic and contemporary tunes. Infuriatingly modest, one would never know from a mere conversation how deeply entrenched she is in the world of music. This passion seamlessly translates into her problem-solving skills, with Echo often drawing inspiration from melodies and rhythms. A voracious reader, she dives deep into literature, using stories to influence her own hardcore writing. Her spirited advocacy for alcohol isn’t about mere indulgence, but about celebrating life’s poignant moments.
