A 15-year-old American boy was attacked by a bear that entered the family room while he was watching television.
It all happened Thursday evening in the alpine woods of Arizona.
When the teenager was alone, the animal entered through the open door and attacked from behind. “He left the cabin, approached other members of the family, entered the cabin a second time and slid into the victim’s arm,” the Department of Hunting and Wildlife (AZGFD) said in a statement.
The youth suffered injuries to his hand and face and was taken to hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the victim’s mother shared the story on social media. She used her post to thank everyone who intervened to help her son.
“Not many kids can say they’ve fought a bear and won,” he added.
AZGFD agents had to euthanize a 3-year-old male animal.
“Black bears are predatory animals and should always be considered unpredictable and dangerous,” the AZGFD reminded. Note that this is the 16th incident in Arizona since 1990. Both these attacks proved fatal.
