Microsoft has lost its gem. The studio declares its independence

A few months after the first announcement, the creators of Crash Bandicoot 4 and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy have confirmed that they have entered the indie world. Bob’s games became independent.

When Microsoft officially acquired Activision Blizzard last year, it gained a number of talented (and hugely profitable) teams and several respected IPs. Among such famous series as Call of Duty, Overwatch or Diablo, we also cannot forget the Crash Bandicoot brand, which Toys for Bob has been working on for some time.

At the end of February, the developers announced a big change was coming – studio representatives stated that they “want to return to the roots of being a small, active team” and will slowly work towards becoming independent.

Yesterday, Toys for Bob announced that it has officially become an independent organization. As previously announced, the developers are already working on another project, which will be a completely new game – however, the team is at an early stage of work, so we shouldn’t expect any materials or announcements for some time yet.

Let’s say it officially: we are now independent!

Bob’s Games, despite the change in its status, still plans to cooperate with the Redmond giant and Activision. So we can only wait for the potential fruits of these communications.
